Description
Montrose is a building that possibly dates from the early 18th century but was altered or remodelled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a band over the ground floor, topped with a Cotswold stone roof. The building has two storeys and displays two windows with glazing bar sashes on the first floor, along with an angled bay on the ground floor. The entrance consists of a four-panel door with side and transom lights, topped by a bracketed wooden hood. Originally, the ground floor had two bays with a central door. At the rear, there is a two-storey verandah. Inside, the hall features an arch flanked by arched niches, and the first-floor landing has a step up to the rooms on the south side, which have a curved plan.
