Description

This barn, located approximately 40 meters north of Great Rissington Manor, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring dressed stone quoins and a stone slate roof. The barn has a rectangular plan and includes a projecting porch on the south side, with a lean-to structure to the left of the porch. The porch is off-centre to the right and has a double-width entrance with a timber lintel. There are access holes with landings for a pigeon loft above the porch, and a single-width doorway leads into the lean-to. The former pitching windows, located in both gable ends, each have an ovolo-moulded mullion and transom with diamond leaded panes. Inside, the barn consists of three bays, with original collar and tie-beam trusses supported by double purlins. Pigeon holes are present within the roof space of the projecting porch.
