Description

OZLEWORTH - ST 79 SE 5/137 Stable and coach block at Newark Park GV II

Stable and coach block, with attached animal shelter on east end. Mid/late C19. Coursed stone with alternating flush quoins, slate roof with coped verges and saddlestones and small roof vents to right in shape of saddlestones. Single long range of single storey and loft, with angled section to east of single storey. Coach block to right in large cross gabled section with small arcaded bellcote on apex of coped gable with kneelers. Upper floor has 2-light casements with square hoodmould and relieving arches flanking central keyed blind round arch with circular upper panel, platband at sill level. Two double width basket arches below with original plank doors and strap hinges. Small gable to right has 2 plank doors, one to loft, and balances gable to far left with loft door over 2 windows. Two-light casements flank right-hand gable, with similar windows between 2 plank doors each with 3-light transom light to left of coach doors. Main stable block continuing to left has scattered similar windows and 2 doors without transom lights. String course along whole length of block over doors and windows. Agricultural building on angled wing with narrow plank door, and 3-bay animal shelter beyond.
