Description

The stable and coach block at Newark Park is a mid to late 19th-century structure that includes an attached animal shelter on the east end. It is built from coursed stone with alternating flush quoins and features a slate roof with coped verges, saddlestones, and small roof vents shaped like saddlestones on the right side. The building is a single long range of one storey with a loft, and it has an angled section at the east end.

The coach block is located to the right and has a large cross-gabled section topped with a small arcaded bellcote at the apex of the coped gable, which includes kneelers. The upper floor features two-light casements with square hoodmoulds and relieving arches, flanking a central keyed blind round arch with a circular upper panel and a platband at sill level. Below, there are two double-width basket arches with original plank doors and strap hinges.

To the right, a small gable has two plank doors, one leading to the loft, and it is balanced by a gable on the far left that has a loft door above two windows. The right-hand gable has two-light casements, with similar windows positioned between two plank doors, each accompanied by a three-light transom light to the left of the coach doors. The main stable block continues to the left and features scattered similar windows and two doors without transom lights. A string course runs along the entire length of the block above the doors and windows. An agricultural building is located on the angled wing, which has a narrow plank door, and there is a three-bay animal shelter beyond.
