Description
Fernley Farmhouse is a large farmhouse, likely built in the mid to late 18th century, with later expansions in the 19th century and alterations in the 20th century. The building is faced with roughcast and has a stone slate roof, featuring dressed stone end and ridge stacks with a moulded cornice. It has a U-shaped layout of two storeys, with an L-shaped canopy supported by struts on the north and east sides. The original structure was possibly L-shaped and was extended to the southwest in the 19th century.
The main front, which now faces east, has 20th-century windows and a half-glazed door. The south front consists of three bays, with the right bay featuring a four-pane sash window under a cambered head on both floors. The left and central first-floor bays have three-light casements beneath a segmental head. There is a central flush stone doorcase with a door that has four fielded panels and two lower flush panels. The inner faces of the U-shaped building have scattered windows.
