Description
Lion Lodge is an early 19th-century lodge located in Wotton-under-Edge, constructed from rendered limestone rubble and featuring a hipped scantled slate roof with rendered end stacks, one of which has a Tudor-style pot. The building has a rectangular plan and is designed in the Tudor Picturesque style, consisting of one storey with an attic and a two-window range.
The central gabled porch is notable for its elaborate cusped bargeboards and a hood mould above the moulded Tudor-arched doorway, which has a plank inner door. There are label moulds over the two-light Tudor-arched mullioned windows, which include sunk spandrels and leaded lights for the casements. The lodge also features gabled half-doorways with carved bargeboards and chamfered shoulder-arched lights. To the right, there is a service outshut, and a mid-20th-century porch has been added to the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
