Description
This listing describes a pair of chest tombs located about 5 meters west of the north-west path, 14 meters from the path crossing in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary in Tetbury. The tombs are dedicated to the Swinerton family, with the northern tomb dating from the early to mid-18th century and the southern tomb from the later 18th century. The tombs are made of limestone and feature flat tops with simple moulded plinths and capping. The northern chest tomb is notably small for its type and has plain moulded rectangular panels with inscriptions on all sides except the west. The southern chest tomb has indented corners, a plain frieze, and fielded rectangular panels with inscriptions on all sides except the north.
