Description

Castle Cottage is a detached cottage, said to date from 1712. It is constructed of random coursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof and two stone ridge stacks. The cottage is a single long range, originally single-story with an attic, and may have been extended on the left side, as evidenced by a row of quoins visible within the wall. A central boarded door, which may have been moved from its original position to the left, has a timber lintel, and sits below a very large stone lintel blocking a previous opening. Flanking the door are two-light wooden casements, both with timber lintels; the lintel to the left is original. Above are two small gabled dormers set into the eaves.
