Description

KINGSCOTE BAGPATH ST 89 SW 6/102 Barn and adjoining former stable at Bagpath Court GV II

Barn and later adjoining former stable with pigsty to rear. Barn probably late C18, stable of mid/late C19. Barn has projecting gabled cart entry with timber lintel and double timber doors on east side with opposed low level flush entry now blocked up to form one plank doorway. South wall has 4 tiers of dove perches in triangular design on outer wall and inner blockwork wall. Slit vents to sides and north wall against stable. Five bays, collar and tie beam trusses with some renewed timbers. Stable adjoining on north has flight of 13 stone treads on brick and stone base up to plank loft door with cathole, clock face and small single light to right on upper level, and 2-light window, plank door, and former cart entry now C20 three-light window, all with timber lintels, on ground floor. Large lean-to to rear with 3 pigsties, with rendered outer pens still with original floors in small bricks. C20 garage to right hand return of stable, not of special interest.
