Description
The building consists of a barn and an adjoining former stable with a pigsty at Bagpath Court. The barn likely dates from the late 18th century, while the stable was built in the mid to late 19th century. The barn features a projecting gabled cart entry on the east side, which has a timber lintel and double timber doors. There is also a low-level flush entry that has been blocked up to create a single plank doorway. The south wall of the barn displays four tiers of dove perches arranged in a triangular design on both the outer wall and the inner blockwork wall. Slit vents are present on the sides and the north wall adjacent to the stable. The barn is composed of five bays and has collar and tie beam trusses, with some timbers having been renewed.
The stable, located to the north of the barn, includes a flight of 13 stone treads leading up to a plank loft door. This loft door features a cathole, a clock face, and a small single light to the right on the upper level. On the ground floor, there is a two-light window, a plank door, and a former cart entry that has been replaced with a 20th-century three-light window, all of which have timber lintels. At the rear, there is a large lean-to that contains three pigsties, with rendered outer pens that still retain their original floors made of small bricks. A 20th-century garage is located to the right-hand return of the stable but is not considered of special interest.
