Description
Two gazebos, attached garden walls, and associated steps are located in the garden of Batsford Park, dating from the late 19th century. They were probably designed by Sir Ernest George and Peto for Lord Redesdale. The structures are made of ashlar with slate roofs. Each gazebo features square, plain, stilted arched windows on three sides, with a single similar window and door facing the main house. All windows have leaded panes, and the windows and door are adorned with moulded architraves. Each gazebo has a pyramidal roof topped with a ball finial and a weathervane; one weathervane is decorated with a greyhound, while the other features a cock. The gazebos are positioned at the corners of a terrace that is approximately 5 meters high. Access to the terrace is provided by two flights of steps, each with an L-turn, leading from a lower terrace. The lower terrace can be reached by a central flight of steps that interrupts the main revetment wall.
