Description

Mace's Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring dressed stone quoins and a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. The building has a rectangular main body with extensions at both gable ends, while 20th-century extensions at the rear are not of special interest.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic. It has a Cotswold dormer with a two-light casement located off-centre to the right, flanked by two gablets. The ground floor features three and four-light stone-mullioned casements, the latter including king mullions, while the first floor has two and three-light casements. To the left, there is a 1.5-storey extension with a Cotswold dormer, which has a three-light stone-mullioned casement on the ground floor and a two-light stone-mullioned casement in the dormer. A three-light stone-mullioned casement is present in the former wash-house to the right. All casements are fitted with leaded panes and have stopped hoods.

An off-centre right, 19th-century part-glazed door is set within a Tudor-arched surround that includes imposts and keystones. The hood over the door continues at the level of the stop above the window to the right. The gable-end and axial stacks are topped with moulded cappings and skirtings, and the main body features stepped coped gables. The interior has not been inspected.
