Description
Gardener's Cottage is located at the corner of a walled garden in Sezincote Park and dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone with a slate roof and features ashlar stacks. The central portion of the cottage is square at the front and canted, with a canted portico at the rear. There are rectangular wings of equal length on either side. The central section slightly projects from the facade and includes a squat octagonal tower that forms the upper storey.
The entrance features a central six-panel door set within a four-centred arch, which has a plain architrave with an engaged palmette at the top. On either side of the door are single slit lights with ogee tops, each adorned with rosettes above. Above the door is a six-light window with glazing bars. The single-storey wings on either side of the central body have single blind windows with stepped and curved upper corners. The tower also has similar blind windows on each face. A central stack rises from the apex of the octagonal pyramidal roof, while the single-storey wings have hipped roofs. A decorative band below the eaves features stone brackets that support the roof above. The interior has not been inspected.
