Description
Beehive Lodge is a lodge located on the Sezincote Estate, built around 1823 by C. R. Cockerell. It features a rectangular plan and is constructed of limestone rubble, arranged in layers to create a jagged appearance on the exterior. The roof is made of artificial stone slate, and there is an ashlar stack. The building has a symmetrical facade and stands two storeys tall. On the ground floor, there are two windows, which are 4-light wood casements set within stone architraves that have curved upper corners. Above the ground floor, there is a single central dormer situated over a plank door that leads to a 20th-century entrance porch. There is a possible former doorway on the left gable end that has been blocked and features a semi-circular architrave. The lodge has a central stack. The interior has not been inspected. Beehive Lodge was originally one of a pair of matching lodges that included round-headed dormers and dome-shaped thatched roofs with thatched hoods over the front doors. The other lodge, known as Worcester Lodge, has been significantly altered from its original design.
