Description

BOURTON-ON-THE-HILL A424 MORETON-IN-MARSH - SP 13 SE Broadway Road (east side) 4/32 Beehive Lodge, Sezincote Estate (formerly listed as Worcester Lodge) Sezincote Estate 25.8.60 II Lodge to Sezincote House. By C. R. Cockerell c1823 with C20 entrance porch. Limestone rubble layered in courses to give a jagged appearance to the exterior, artificial stone slate roof, ashlar stack. Rectangular plan with central projecting C20 entrance porch. Symmetrical facade. 2 storeys. 2-windows to ground floor; 4-light wood casements within stone architraves with curved upper corners. Single central dormer over plank door to C20 entrance porch. Possible former doorway in left gable end, now blocked with semi-circular architrave. Central stack. Interior not inspected. One of a pair of formerly matching lodges which had round-headed dormers, dome shaped thatched roofs, and thatched hoods over their front doors. The opposing lodge, Worcester Lodge is now substantially altered from its original form.
