Description

The monument to John Gibbs, who died in 1802, is located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Lawrence, about 2 meters east of the chancel in Bourton-on-the-Hill. This Grade II listed chest tomb is made of limestone and features a rectangular shape on a moulded plinth with inset corners. There is a moulded course around the top of the tomb. It is one of a group of three chest tombs situated at the east end of the chancel and is prominently visible from Main Street. There is also a plaque on the south wall of the south aisle related to this monument.
