Description
Atkyns Manor is a large manor house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed and dressed stone with flush quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has a single front range and a lower rear range, which includes five small gables and two large gables. It stands two storeys high with two attic floors.
The front facade displays three large gables, each featuring an elliptical stone window set in a rectangular frame at the apex. Originally, these gables had 2, 3, and 4-light stone mullions with square hoodmoulds below, and relieving arches on the lower two floors. The left-hand gable includes a two-storey early 20th-century projecting square bay that obscures the windows on the lower two levels. There are single lights positioned between the gables on the left and centre, and a 2-light stone mullion with a square hoodmould between the centre and right gables. Below this is a gabled porch made of ashlar stone, featuring a Tudor arch and a coped verge with kneelers. The inner doorway is chamfered and stopped, complete with a keystone and a half-glazed arched door. All windows have leaded glass. The interior is not accessible.
