Description

Manor House is a large, detached house, with a core dating to the 18th century, around 1760, as indicated by a plaque. An earlier wing was added in the early 18th century, and further additions were made in the mid-19th century to the rear. The house is constructed of coursed, dressed stone with alternating chamfered quoins, and is roofed with stone slates, featuring a coved wooden eaves cornice and stone end stacks with offset and moulded cornices. The building has a 'L' shape. The main range is three storeys and an attic, with five windows. These windows are plate glass sashes with plain stone architraves and keystones set against flush lintels and quoins.

The central doorcase is stone, and features two attached Doric columns on bases, an entablature, and a pediment. Inside the doorcase is a moulded arch with a keystone and imposts, leading to double, half-glazed doors with a flush lower panel. The rear wing incorporates two-light stone mullion casements with square hoodmoulds. A 19th-century addition on the rear angle provides the main entrance, with a flat stone hood and flanking two-light stone mullions. A 20th-century conservatory has replaced an earlier 19th-century conservatory on the left side of the front elevation. Inside, original fireplaces remain, along with shell niche cupboards in a ground floor room, and a staircase with twisted balusters.
