Description
Ormond Terrace consists of three houses, now used as both residences and offices, with attached area railings to number 4. The terrace was built around 1820 to 1834, with some later additions and alterations, including ground-floor bow windows from the 1960s on numbers 2 and 3. The exterior features stucco over brick, a concealed roof, tall brick party-wall stacks, and wrought-iron railings. The terrace is two storeys high, with a basement on the left and nine first-floor windows, three for each house. Stucco details include a first-floor band, a crowning entablature, and a blocking course. The original windows are 6/6 sashes, with a blind centre window on the first floor of the central and right houses, and a 10/10 sash in the basement. The centre and right houses have plate glass bow windows. The entrances on the right have steps leading to 6-panel doors, with the door to number 2 replaced, and sidelights and overlights featuring lozenge glazing bars (missing on number 2). Inside, the houses retain original plasterwork, a painted Regency fireplace, and original joinery. Number 3 has a narrow open-well staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail. The area railings to the left have an X-motif, while the pointed railings beside the steps to number 4 have bars and dogbars. Historically, these houses are shown as built on Merrett's Map of 1834 and form a group with Madame Wright's, 1 Ormond Place, and numbers 5 to 8 Ormond Terrace.
