Description

Numbers 78 to 88 form a terrace of six houses and attached railings, built around 1820 to 1830. The houses are constructed of brick with stucco facades, and have concealed roofs with brick party-wall stacks, as well as stacks to the ends of the rear service ranges. Cast and wrought-iron railings are also present.

The houses are two storeys high with basements, featuring 18 first-floor windows (three per house). Stucco detailing consists of a platband above the basement, a first-floor band, a frieze, a cornice, a blocking course, and copings. The windows have tooled architraves. The first-floor windows are predominantly 6/6 sashes, though some are 2/2 sashes; the ground floor has a mix of 2/2 and 1/1 sashes, all with sills. The basement windows are largely 6/6 sashes, but again some are 2/2 sashes. All windows are set in plain reveals. Roll-edged steps lead to the entrances on the left side. The entrances themselves feature 3-panel doors, some with glazing and overlights; the entrances to numbers 78 and 80 have side-lights. A blind opening is present on the right return. Number 88 includes a rear bay window with horizontal-pane 2/2 sashes and margin-lights. The interior has not been inspected.

The attached railings feature stick balusters and lancets alongside the steps. All Saints Road is depicted as developed on a map from 1834.
