Description

Bibury House and Bibury Cottage are a villa, now divided into two dwellings, dating to approximately 1820-34. They are shown on Merrett’s Map of 1834. The building is constructed of stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof and stucco end stacks featuring cornices.

The main range has two storeys and three bays, with a two-storey, three first-floor-window range set back to the left, and a rear range to the right. The main range features a 3:1:3 window arrangement, with the outer bays canted to their full height and incorporating a projecting ground floor range. A first-floor band runs along the facade. The windows are mostly 6/6 sash windows, with some blind openings. The central entrance has a 6-panel door with an overlight. The projecting range has a low parapet with copings. The left-hand range is stepped and includes mainly 6/6 sash windows. A former entrance, now a casement window at ground floor, retains a fanlight with batwing and circular glazing bars.

The interior retains original plasterwork and joinery, including panelled shutters.
