Description

This is a pair of gate piers located approximately 4 meters to the south-west of Number 133, known as Clarence House, in Cheltenham. Built around 1830 to 1834, the gate piers are made of rusticated ashlar and feature fluted capitals topped with carved 'pineapple' finials. They are an important part of the streetscape and contribute to the setting of Clarence House, as well as being part of a notable group of piers that includes another pair located approximately 4 meters to the east and a corner pier, railings, and pier on the north-east boundary of Clarence House.
