Description
The boundary walls and piers to Lindley, located along College Road and Sandford Road in Cheltenham, date back to around 1820. The structure is L-shaped and features a stretch of wall made from pinkish-brown brick topped with ashlar copings, some of which have been renewed. The wall stands approximately 1 meter high and includes three piers along College Road. The left pier has been rebuilt in brick on an ashlar plinth and is topped with a pyramidal cap. The other piers are made of ashlar and have shaped plinths, shafts with round-arched panels, and shaped copings. There is a return of the wall to the right along Sandford Road for about 50 meters, which includes two similar piers. The central pier is inscribed with the word 'Lindley'. These walls and piers contribute significantly to the streetscape. Lindley itself was a mid-19th century villa that has since been demolished.
