Description

Numbers 16 and 17 are two terraced houses dating from the 1830s and 1840s, located on the south side of Graton Street in Cheltenham. The houses are constructed of ashlar over brick, with concealed roof, end, and party-wall brick and stucco stacks topped with cornices. They have cast- and wrought-iron porches and railings.

The houses are two storeys high, with a basement, and have four windows on the first floor. The first floor features an incised double band. The windows are 1/1 sash windows. The left entrances have six-panel doors, the door to the right incorporating two glazed panels, each with a fanlight above. The interior was not inspected.

The tent porches have scrolled uprights embellished with leaves, topped with tent roofs. The area railings have embellished rods. The group value of the buildings lies in the quality of the detailing and their contribution to the streetscape.
