Description

A pair of terraced houses dating from approximately 1830 to 1840. The houses are constructed of ashlar stone, with brickwork visible on the left side (painted), and have a slate roof with pinkish-brown brick stacks to the party wall and right end.

The houses are two storeys high with basements, and originally had four windows on the first floor. The left-hand entrance bays are set back. The ground floor features horizontal rustication, a first-floor band, and a first-floor moulded sill band. There is a crowning frieze, cornice, and blocking course at the roofline. The front doors are six-panelled with overlights. The ground floor windows are tripartite, with 6/6 sashes flanked by 2/2 sashes, each having recessed aprons. The first floor has alternate 6/6 and 8/8 sash windows. A 3/3 sash window is present in the basement on the right-hand side, believed to be original. The interior has not been inspected.

These houses contribute to a notable group, alongside the Bethesda Methodist Church, and are part of a well-preserved street of terraced houses predominantly built in the 1830s and 1840s.
