Description

This is a villa dating from approximately 1820 to 1850. It was built with a stucco exterior over brick, featuring ashlar detailing on the porch. The roof is concealed with stacks at each end. The villa is two storeys high and has three windows on the first floor. The stucco detailing includes a band at the first floor level, pilasters at the ends and between the windows with sunk panels, a continuous architrave, frieze and cornice with a blocking course. The ground floor has wide cornices on consoles to the windows. Original 6/6 sash windows remain. The central entrance features a panelled door with an overlight, set within a distyle Ionic porch with an architrave, frieze, cornice and blocking course. The interior of the property was not inspected. Painswick Road was laid out by Charles Baker in 1820, following an Act of Parliament, to create a route between Cheltenham and Painswick.
