SO9421NE SUFFOLK SQUARE 630-1/18/877 (East side) Two pairs of gate piers with walls and railings to Faithfull House

GV II

2 pairs of gate piers to carriage sweep and low wall adjoining with boundary wall to south and end pier. c1830. Ashlar over brick piers, square on plan approx 2m high with chamfered plinths, recessed panels to shafts, moulded cornices and shaped caps. Pinkish-brown brick south boundary wall with ashlar coping, ramped, approx 12m long and 2-4m high. Similar, taller end pier which abuts pedestrian archway to Faithfull House (qqv). Renewed iron railings and C20 gates (not included). A significant streetscape feature and part of a distinguished group in Suffolk Square.
