Description
Railings, gates, and gate piers over Wymans Brook to the viaduct were built around 1830 to 1840, with some parts renewed. The railings feature arrow-head designs and include some dog-rails. The standards are capped with anthemion motifs and supported by dogleg stanchions. There are gates leading to Pittville Park on the west side, flanked by two ashlar piers. Pittville Park was designed for Joseph Pitt between 1820 and 1830 as the focal point of his Pittville development, with the overall layout created by architect John Forbes. This structure contributes positively to the streetscape along Evesham Road and complements the ends of the bridge in Pump Room Gardens adjacent to Pittville Park. There is a footpath underneath.
