Description
The bridge in Pump Room Gardens at the west end of Pittville Lake was built around 1830-1840 and designed by architect John Forbes. It is constructed of stone with horizontal rustication and features balustraded parapets. There are two off-centre urns on each side and a central coat of arms. Pittville was developed for Joseph Pitt between 1825 and 1842, with the general layout designed by Forbes, making Pittville Park its centerpiece. This bridge is one of a pair that crosses Pittville Lake and is noted for its accomplished and subtle design.
