Description
A terrace of four houses with shops, built around 1840. The buildings are constructed with stucco over brickwork, featuring slate roofs with brick stacks. They have a double-depth plan. The exterior is three storeys high and each house has a two-window front, defined by vertical pilaster strips and horizontal bands. Number 48 retains a rusticated ground floor and has 6/6-pane sash windows. Number 47 has a mid-to-late 19th-century shop front with a margin-glazed overlight above a half-glazed door. Number 48 has a mid-20th-century plate-glass shop window and an original four-panel door with overlight to the right. Numbers 49 and 50 have four-panel doors with overlights, with number 50 retaining a late 19th-century shop front with arched heads to a three-light shop window. The interior was not inspected. The terrace represents the complete sequence of terraced buildings in the street and holds group value as an example of its type.
