Description
Greywalls is a detached house that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. The main part of the house features square panelled timber-framing with rendered infill, while the cross wing is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone. The roof is made of stone slate, and there are both ashlar and stone and brick stacks. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan and is 1½ storeys high, with a 2-storey range from the 18th century.
At the eaves of the main body, there are two 3-light dormers. The ground floor has 20th-century two and three-light casements with glazing bars. A 20th-century studded plank door with strap hinges is set within a moulded early 20th-century 'Tudor'-arched surround, which has a flat projecting canopy above. The gable end of the cross wing projects forward to the right and features a 20th-century three-light casement with glazing bars on the first floor, along with additional 20th-century casements with glazing bars on the right-hand return. A projecting brick stack is located at the left gable end, and there is an axial ashlar stack that has been restored in brick, as well as a stone-built off-the-ridge stack on the cross wing. The interior has not been inspected.
