Description

Fourways is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It is located in Prestbury, Cheshire. The cottage has a timber-frame structure with rendered and painted brick infill, set on a plinth of large squared and dressed limestone blocks. The roof is covered with stone slates and features brick stacks. An outbuilding is attached to the rear right at a right angle.

The main body of the cottage is rectangular, with a cellar beneath the right-hand end, and it is one and a half storeys high. The front facade has three windows, featuring two- and three-light casements on the ground floor, two of which have shutters. There are also three-light eaves dormers. All windows are fitted with leaded panes. A plank door with fillets and strap hinges is positioned off-centre to the left. A blocked doorway has been replaced with a window on the right side. The single-storey outbuilding is to the rear. Inside the main body are a single axial stack and two lateral stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
