Description
The Burgage House is a detached house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, with a later extension. It is constructed of brick and coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a slate roof and restored brick stacks. The main rectangular block has been extended to the rear. A 20th-century extension to the rear left is not considered of special interest.
The house is two storeys and has an attic. The symmetrical front facade has a two-window arrangement, featuring 12-pane sash windows. The upper floor sashes have horns, and simple 20th-century wrought-iron railings are present. Three 20th-century three-light raking dormers light the attic. A 20th-century flat-roofed porch, with cast-iron columns and a central fielded six-panel door (likely reused) within a fluted surround, is at the front. A late 19th-century wrought-iron lean-to conservatory is situated at the rear. The roof is a Mansard roof, and there are projecting stacks at the left gable end and at the right gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
