Description

The Manor House is a detached house, likely originating in the 17th century, but largely rebuilt in brick around 1770. A diamond-shaped datestone high up in the brick gable end, facing Lake Street, indicates this later date. The roof is covered in stone slate, with brick stacks. The house has a rectangular main body, with a later early 20th-century pebble-dashed range set at a right angle, which is not of particular architectural interest.

The gable end facing Lake Street features a three-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars within a segmental-headed surround on the ground floor, and a flat-roofed four-light oriel window above. A dormer window with two lights is visible on the wall facing Bowbridge Lane, along with a canted five-light bay window with leaded panes on the ground floor. Other ground-floor windows include a single 20th-century casement without glazing bars, a circular window with decorative leaded panes and a dressed stone surround, and a pair of two-light stone-mullioned casements with square-sectioned mullions. The house has axial and projecting gable-end stacks.

Inside, a large open fireplace with a wooden bressumer is a notable feature.
