Description
No. 13 Bath Road is a terraced house that has been converted into a shop. It was built around 1820 to 1850 and has undergone some alterations, including the addition of a ground-floor shop front around 1970. The building features painted ashlar over brick and has a hipped slate roof.
The exterior consists of three storeys with three first-floor windows. The first floor has tall 6/6 sash windows, while the second floor has a central blind opening flanked by 6/6 sashes, all set in plain reveals with sills. There is a cornice, blocking course, and copings at the top. The ground floor includes a 20th-century glazed shop front on the left, and to the right, there is an entrance with a 20th-century glazed door featuring an original fanlight with decorative glazing bars, all within a rusticated surround. A round-arched opening at the far right leads to a passage and has voussoirs.
Inside, the building retains original plasterwork, including an ornate cornice in the hallway and front part of the ground floor. There is also a narrow open-well staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail. This property is an isolated but substantially complete example of its type.
