Number 15 With Attached Wall Gate Piers And Gate To Right

Number 15 is a pair of houses, now flats, built in 1825 and subsequently altered, including conversion to flats and roof modifications around 1950. The facades are stucco over brick, with a mansard slate roof and a stucco party-wall stack with iron balconies. The building has three storeys above a basement, with a main range of one and six windows, incorporating a three-storey entrance range recessed to the left. The stucco detailing includes full-height pilasters with recessed panels and a second-floor band. The main range has 6/6 sash windows on the ground and first floors, 3/3 sashes on the second floor, and 6/6 sashes in the basement. A left bay features a 6/6 and a 3/6 sash window. All windows are set in plain reveals with sills. The entrance to the left has a four-panel door with fielded upper panels, a flush lower panel, fluted surround, and a fanlight with glazing bars. The attic windows are casements. The rear of the building retains 6/6 sashes and tripartite windows with 6/6 sashes flanked by 2/2 sashes. Inside, much original joinery and plasterwork remain, including Regency marble fireplaces on the first floor, cornices with acanthus decoration, ceiling friezes, panelled shutters, 6-panel doors, and fluted architraves with fleurons. To the right, there is a short section of coped wall leading to tall gate piers with pulvinated panels and peaked caps. A tall pedestrian gate sits between the piers, featuring dogbars, a scroll frieze, and bars. The gate piers form part of an attached wall. The land for the development was sold by Henry Thompson, information confirmed by deeds supplied by the occupant.
