Description

Douglas House, now a Conservative Club, is a villa dating from approximately 1820 to 1850, with later additions and alterations including projecting wings added in the late 20th century. The external walls are stucco over brick, with a slate roof, the left side being hipped. The villa has three storeys and seven windows on the first floor. Most of the windows are horizontal-pane sashes, with 6/6 and 2/2 panes. There are blind openings to a second second-floor window and to the fourth first- and second-floor windows. A tripartite window with 1/1 sashes is located to the left, and a 9/9 sash window is on the first floor of the projecting, two-storey central porch, which has a panelled double door, a pilastered doorcase, and pediment. The interior was not inspected.
