Description
The Forge is a house dating from around the 18th century. It has a colourwashed and rendered exterior with a thatched roof that is hipped at the right end, while part of the roof is slated and gabled at the left end. A brick chimney shaft sits on the ridge. The building has a single depth plan and is two storeys high. The front features five windows in an asymmetrical arrangement with scattered fenestration. The thatch extends over a single-storey section on the right end, while the left end has a slightly lower slate roof. A break in the plane on the front suggests that rebuilding has occurred. There is an off-centre 20th-century gabled porch. On the ground floor, three windows are 2-light casements with eight panes per light. One partly blocked embrasure in the single-storey section has a small casement with glazing bars. The ground floor window on the right has lapped glass. The first floor includes a four-pane sash window on the left, while the other two first-floor windows are 2-light casements with six panes per light. The interior has not been inspected, but the single-storey section on the right end may have originally served as a workshop.
