Description
Lower Holwell is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It features colourwashed render over stone and cob, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped to the right. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high, with a six-window range. There is a 20th-century door and porch located to the right of centre. To the left, there are two late 19th-century canted bay windows with plate-glass sashes. The façade includes flat rendered arches above six early 19th-century sixteen-pane sashes, five of which were renewed in the 1980s. At the rear, there is an outshut with a Welsh slate roof, featuring a 20th-century plank door and casements. Although an interior inspection was not possible, it is likely to be of interest.
