Description
New Swann Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, built around 1825. It features colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble and has a hipped slate roof with cast-iron guttering at the front, decorated with lion's mask motifs. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys tall, with a symmetrical three-window range. A 19th-century gabled porch with a round-arched entry leads to a half-glazed inner door that has a decorative fanlight. There are flat rendered arches above 30-pane sash windows on the ground floor and late 19th-century horned 12-pane sash windows on the first floor. The side walls have 36-pane sashes, and there is a 20th-century outshut at the rear. Inside, there is an early 19th-century dog-leg staircase with a landing, featuring stick balusters on an open string and a wreathed handrail, along with panelled doors. The date 1825 is inscribed on one of the roof trusses.
