Description

Hele Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble with a slate-hung front and features a hipped slate roof with stacks on the sides. There are additions to the left rear, which also have a hipped slate roof, with a rubble ground floor and a slate-hung first floor. The building has a double depth plan with a central entry leading to a passage, flanked by two principal front rooms and rear service rooms.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and symmetrical, with three windows on the front. The first floor has three 2-light casements, each with eight panes, while the ground floor features similar 3-light casements on either side of a central gabled slate-hung porch, which has a shouldered head to the opening and an inner panelled and glazed door. The addition to the left has a similar 2-light casement on the first floor.

On the left side, there is a 2-light casement on the ground floor to the left and a 20th-century window to the right, both with segmental heads. The central door has an overlight, and the first floor has a 2-light casement to the right, with the left side blocked, both also with segmental heads. The first floor level is rendered. The right side of the farmhouse has a small single-storey addition with a hipped roof and a stack on the right side, which serves as an additional service room.

The interior has not been inspected. Enclosing the front garden area on the left side are railings with baluster rails at intervals, scrolled struts behind, urn finials, plain rails, and a central gate with a semi-circular brace. The farmhouse was formerly part of the Bedford Estate.
