Description

Langford is a semi-detached cottage that may have originally been part of a larger house, dating from the mid-17th century. It has been altered and likely subdivided in the 19th or early 20th century. The walls are made of rendered cob and rubble, and the roof is thatched, gabled at the left end and hipped at the right. There is a brick stack at the right gable end. The building has a one-room plan with a rear outshot added in the 19th century, but it was probably originally one house with the adjoining property on the left, which has been extensively rebuilt in the 19th century. The fireplace is located at the right gable end.

The exterior features two storeys with an asymmetrical front that has two windows, which are early 20th-century small-paned casements, one with three lights and the other with one light. To the left, there is a 19th-century plank door beneath a doorhood supported by brackets. Inside, there is a chamfered cross-beam with jewel stops, and the open fireplace is likely a 19th-century rebuild, featuring a high plain wooden lintel and brick sides. The feet of the softwood principal rafters are visible on the first floor.
