Walls And Gateway Attached To North Of Collacombe Manor

The walls and gateway attached to the north of Collacombe Manor are a Grade II* listed structure, dating from the late 16th century. The gateway features walls that have been rebuilt using stonework from another building, constructed from granite rubble and dressed granite. The layout is U-shaped, with the gateway located in the north range. The walls extend approximately 25 meters in both the east and west ranges.

The door opening to the west has cylindrical dressed granite piers and a pointed segmental head, while a former door opening in the east range retains a timber lintel. The north range, which is about 18 meters long and approximately 4 meters high, has small square recesses on either side of the gateway, along with two horizontal openings on the right and left that were formed from former granite mullioned windows.

The north range features a coping and a central 4-centred arched opening flanked by engaged Doric columns on plinths. The cornice acts as a springer for the arch and includes a pendant keystone, along with a frieze of triglyphs and guttae, topped by an upper cornice. Additionally, there is a mounting block with three steps located to the east.
