Description

SX 47 NW SYDENHAM DAMEREL Derriton Farmhouse including railings to the garden to the 10/309A south.

GV II

Farmhouse. Early C19. Stone rubble rendered to the front, bitumen-painted slate roof gabled at ends, end stacks, right hand stack projecting.

1½ rooms deep, 2 rooms wide with principal rooms on either side of a central entrance passage with the stairs at the rear of the passage and smaller service rooms to the rear left and right. A later heated single-storey lean-to adjoins the left return.

2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front with a centre gabled slated porch, the porch roof is unusual in having a short lean-to section between the front wall of the house and the gable. The outer doorway of the porch has a segmental arch with stone voussoirs. 12-pane sash above the porch, other windows are tripartite sashes, 12 panes in the centre, 4 in the flanking lights. Interior not inspected. The garden to the front of the house is surmounted by co-eval iron railings on a low stone rubble wall.

A nice example of an early C19 farmhouse with a very complete exterior, con- temporary interior features are likely to survive. The farmhouse forms a good group with its associated farmbuildings.
