Description

Lower Dornford Farmhouse and the attached barn is a farmhouse dating from around 1800. It is built of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled concrete tile roof with brick end stacks. The building has a central-staircase plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. A semi-circular arch is present over an early 19th-century six-panelled door, which has two glazed panels and a decorative fanlight. There are flat stone arches above mid to late 19th-century tripartite and three-pane sash windows, as well as gabled roof dormers.

To the left, there is a lower two-storey range with a brick end stack, featuring cambered arches over a 20th-century door and window. A flat stone arch leads to a doorway that provides access to a passageway leading to a rear dairy outshut. At the rear of the house, there is an 18th-century six-panelled door. Inside, there is an early 19th-century dog-leg staircase with stick balusters, and the room to the right contains mid-18th-century panelling with cupboards and a moulded cornice. There are also 18th and 19th-century panelled doors, and the range to the left has a mid-18th-century panelled door leading to a straight-flight staircase.

Attached to the left of the farmhouse is a five-bay barn with a gabled stone slate roof, which features a mid to late 19th-century roof structure. This site is located on the remnants of a deserted medieval settlement and a large manor house that was demolished around 1800.
