Description

Two houses, numbers 30 and 32, stand on Castle Road. They were built around 1830. The larger house, number 32, is to the left and constructed of squared and coursed limestone, with a gabled stone slate roof and brick end stacks. It has an L-plan with a two-storey, rear left wing. The main façade is three storeys high and features a symmetrical three-window arrangement. A six-panelled door is topped by a keyed stone lintel, with a fanlight and wrought-iron balcony to the porch. Keyed stone lintels also feature over the sash windows, with the ground floor windows on the first floor having wrought-iron balconies. The rear wing has a concrete tile roof. To the right is number 30, also using similar materials, with a brick end stack. This house is two storeys high and has a two-window range. It has a covered entry on the left side, with a timber lintel over a plank door, 20th-century casements, and a first-floor with 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars. The interior was not inspected.
