Description

BUCKLAND MONACHORUM SX 46 NE 3/41 Barn approximately 20 metres - south-east of Venton Farmhouse

GV II

Barn. Circa early to mid C19. Rubble walls with gable ended grouted slate roof. Row of shippons on ground floor with threshing barn above. Granary and cart shed added at left-hand end probably in later C19. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical front with left-hand granary and cart shed divided by straight joint from main section. Main part has 5 regularly spaced doorways on ground floor which have stone arches with granite keystones. At centre of 1st floor is tall double doorway with similar arch above. Left-hand later section has wide opening on ground floor with brick arch. Door above is approached by stone steps at left-hand side of building leading to a platform in front with a pentice slate roof above.
