Description
This is a barn located about 25 metres east of the Old Farmhouse, likely built in the 18th century. It is constructed from granite rubble with large granite quoins and features a slurried slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The barn has a small threshing design, with a central cart entry and smaller doors on the right and left, and a loft above.
The barn stands two storeys high, with the central cart entrance and doorways on both ends, which have granite lintels. The doorway on the right is blocked, and there is a window inserted. The former doorway to the left of the cart entry is also blocked. The right gable end includes a ventilation slit at the upper level and remnants of a former attached single-storey building. The left gable end has a similar ventilation slit. Along the rear wall at ground level, there is a row of five ventilation slits with deep splayed reveals on the inside.
Inside, the barn features a six-bay roof from the mid-19th century, with straight principal rafters resting on the tops of the walls, collars, and two rows of purlins, along with a ridge purlin. This barn is part of a cohesive group of buildings around a farmyard, which includes the stable and the old farmhouse.
