Description
This is a barn located approximately 6 metres south of Middle Venton Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century and refurbished in the late 19th to early 20th century. It is constructed of cob on stone rubble footings, with the south end rebuilt using granite stone rubble and topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn is oriented on a north-south axis, with its west side facing the lane. It features large nearly full-height double doorways in the middle of each long wall that open onto the threshing floor. The eastern doorway is flanked by short projecting midstrey walls, and both doorways have small hoods extending from the eaves. The roof is gable-ended on the left side and hipped on the right. Inside, the barn is open to the roof, which consists of replacement trusses from the late 19th to early 20th century.
