Description

Little Hilly Cottage and Bank Cottage are a pair of houses that may have originally been one house, dating from the 17th century and significantly altered in the 20th century. They feature rendered cob walls, with the left-hand cottage having a corrugated asbestos roof and Little Hilly Cottage covered with thatch, which dips at each end. There are two axial brick stacks and one at the right-hand end.

In terms of layout, Little Hilly Cottage has a two-room plan that extends on the first floor over a carriageway below. Bank Cottage also originally had a two-room plan but has been subdivided later. The exterior is two storeys high. Little Hilly Cottage has an asymmetrical front with three windows, featuring 20th-century two and three-light casements. There is a 20th-century plank and part-glazed door to the left of the centre, and the right-hand end has a carriageway beneath it. Bank Cottage has an asymmetrical front with four windows, which includes small-paned 19th-century casements on the first floor and 20th-century casements on the ground floor. The right-hand window is in a blocked doorway, and there is a 20th-century stable-type door to the left of the centre.

Inside, Little Hilly Cottage has an open fireplace in the left-hand room, which includes an oven.
