Description

The Pengelly ledger stone, located about 2 meters south of the south chancel chapel of the Church of St George, is an early 18th-century slate stone. It is rectangular in shape and features an inscription around the border that commemorates Rebeckah Pengelly, who died in 1734. The central verse includes the lines, "She minded not Vain Baubles Plays or Sport/Such as most of her Age use to resort/When other maids were on their Pastimes bent/In Reading of Good Books her Time she Spent."
