Description
The lych gate, wall, and railings located to the south of the Church of St Peter in Petersmarland are likely from around 1868, the year the church was rebuilt. The lych gate features rubble walls with wooden framing and a hipped slate roof with gables. It has a double gateway, which includes a smaller pedestrian entrance. The structure is supported by three posts on stone plinths, with diagonal struts and curved braces. The timbers are chamfered and stopped. The gates themselves were added in 1982. The walls extend to the south and west of the gate, both topped with chamfered coping stones and iron railings that have decorative finials. The south wall includes a gateway leading to the former vicarage, now Marland School, which features chamfered piers topped with pyramidal caps.
