Description
Thisson is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, built in the late 17th century or early 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The structure features plastered cob and rubble walls and has a gable-ended thatch roof, with a brick stack at each gable end. The original layout consisted of two mirror image cottages, each with a two-room plan, including a larger heated outer room and a small service room on the inside. It was converted into a single house, likely in the early 20th century, when the left-hand partition was removed.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with three windows, featuring 20th-century one and two-light casements. There are two gabled open-fronted 19th-century porches at either end, each with a 19th-century plank door behind.
Inside, there are two open fireplaces with roughly chamfered wooden lintels, and the roof is supported by rough A-frame trusses.
